Abstract

High economic growth, low inflation and the simultaneous formation of many industries have highlighted the economic performance of Iran in 1340s. Interestingly, in the same period, East Asian countries also adopted a similar approach to industrial development, nowadays referred to as the Asian miracle. Although relatively extensive studies have been carried out on the progress of East Asian countries, few studies have been done on the organizational and institutional characteristics of Iran experience in the same period. This study is an attempt to theorize the reasons for the success of the Iran economic performance in 1340s by a comparative study of the organizational and policy characteristics of the economic management of that period and the characteristics of the East Asian developmental states. First, the bureaucratic structures and characteristics that made the economy viable at that time are discussed, and then the economic and industrial policies applied at that time are discussed. At the beginning of each section, the theoretical underpinnings of the subject will be explained first, followed by "In Iran", which will describe the Iranian experience. It is hoped that this rethinking of the country's economic management experience would open the way for future study to reinforce the historical memory of policymakers from past mistakes and to some extent prevent the repetition of past mistakes.
