Abstract

In this article, in order to identify the factors influencing the selection of events and turn it into news in domestic news agencies, the managers of Iranian news agencies were interviewed and analyzed by situational analysis. Analysis of the situation of Iranian news agencies showed that the main and decisive field in the news production process is the "Islamic Republic / Sovereignty" system. The second area is the government, which is influenced by the government, is the next determining area in the news production process. The third area is the "media organization" and the active social worlds in which it determines which event the reporter should select and turn into news. The fourth area is the "Principles of the Journalism Profession", which defines what news is and what events are worthwhile to become news. But in the corner of these overlapping areas, there is the "audience / community" area, which is located in the map of areas / social worlds, indicating its almost isolated and insignificant position in the process of producing news in Iran's audio-visual news agencies.
