Abstract

Cultural diplomacy, as the linchpin of public diplomacy and soft power in relations between countries is noteworthy. The main purposes of cultural diplomacy are : trying to establish cultural dialogue around the world, creating constructive relationships, improving communications and collaboration, avoiding misunderstanding, reducing social and cultural conflicts and their consequences, and promoting global peace and stability by strengthening and supporting cultural relations. Globalization which is a step forward in internationalization is a key factor in practicing diplomacy. Globalization process, especially in its cultural dimension can create opportunities for cultural diplomacy in the global space. This study seeks to find the effect of globalization as an independent and effective variable on cultural diplomacy approach as the dependent and affected variable. Considering the fact that in the process of globalization, the role of culture has been increasingly linked to a global level, in this study we sought to answer the question, “Does this process, as Huntington predicted, would lead to clash of civilizations or lead to increased cooperation in international relations?” In this study, we focused on the "theory of peace-building" to explore the opportunities of globalization for cultural diplomacy, The results reveal that culture, globalization and international relations, are increasingly becoming interdependent and dominance over these three would empower people and countries to become powerful and exercise influence in cooperation, peace and solidarity. And this will be achieved by adopting cultural diplomacy in relations between countries
