Emphasizing the principle 31 of the constitution to have suitable housing for every Iranian person and obliging the government to fulfill this principle has caused housing to be one of the most important priorities of all governments after the revolution. Based on the circumstances and approaches, each government has planned and implemented a separate program in the field of housing. Despite the variety of programs and large allocation of resources from public funds, including land and subsidy, housing as the most serious problem has for Iranian households. In this research, the legislation housing policies in the post-revolutionary governments have been analyzed.
As a methodology, content analysis of documents, interviews with experts, and analysis of housing statistics and indicators have been used.
The results of this research show that, despite the difference in the approach of the governments, the general policies of the housing sector can be classified into 4 categories: government housing construction policies, subsidy payment, land use and regulation. The mixed policy analysis based on the three indicators of efficiency, inclusiveness and sustainability also shows the focus of the policies of all governments on the construction and supply of housing. And this inattention to other aspects of the political mix has caused the rate of housing acquisition in the country to decrease despite all the efforts made and the resources spent
