Futuristic Research in the Roots of Images of the Future

Abstract

Images of the future are inextricably linked to desires, values and human ideals. The most important issue in investigation of future images is their role in shaping social changes. Future images beside value are the most significant building blocks of social changes. Ergo, this study as a fundamental study in qualitative research tradition deploys a blend of thematic analysis to explore the images of future of Iranian society among the young people. The results show that images of future among participant include seven key components: 1. Historical monuments of the past, 2. the weight of the present time, 3. The road taken by the descendants, 4. Conjectures about future, 5. The shadow of the society, 6. Regrets, inabilities and shortages, and 7. Understanding future.
The nature of most of these constructive roots of future images reflects on these assumptions that the future images of the young people of Iran have a profound relationship with their past and present experience of their lives, and they have little ability to imagination in a desirable future and to break the existing situation in favor of They have a in preferable situation. These assumptions should be tested in future research.
